- Die Laan is een van die mooiste en bekendste strate in
Stellenbosch. Dit is ook die enigste straat in die
Historiese Kern wat nog nie deur besigheidsgebruik
binnegedring is nie. Dit moet ten alle koste daarteen
beskerm word.

- We studied the Vlottenburg Spatial Development Framework,
the Winelands Integrated Development Framework as well as
existing Council policy regarding rural development and
development of Hamlets. We visited the existing Digtebij
development as well as the proposed development site. We
acknowledge the fact that the proposed development is using
the same design concept as the existing Digtebij. We also
agree that this is the right thing to do. The strategic
question however remains – is it the right “thing” to
develop agricultural land for residential purposes. Our
first reaction is no, even though “grape farming” is not
profitable in the present economic market. In isolation, we
will therefore not support residential development is
agricultural areas.

- Die SBV het met ontsteltenis kennis geneem van die
vroegtydige bedanking van Stellenbosch se munisipale
bestuurder. Ons dorp kan nie bekostig om 'n persoon van mnr.
Daniels se kaliber te verloor nie. Hy het daarin geslaag het
om 'n erg ontwrigte munisipaliteit te stabiliseer. Met sy
aanstelling ongeveer agtien maande gelede was daar 'n
algemene verwagting dat sy kontrak verleng sal word. Om nou
te hoor dat mnr Daniels nie sal aanbly nie en dat hy
inderdaad op kort kennisgewing sy pos gaan ontruim sonder om
sy termyn te voltooi, is 'n groot teleurstelling.
