Pniel
The rural character of Pniel, a proud and historic coloured community has all but been destroyed by developers, which include BEE entities which have the likes of Chris Nissen in their ranks. The Languedoc development is a blight on the Boschendal/Pniel landscape, and further luxury developments are currently on the table, which will effectively rule the valley out of contention for World Heritage site status. A bypass, above Pniel, against Simonsberg mountain slopes, is currently under construction and will further undermine the natural, rural character of the valley. Coupled with other proposed developments in the direction of Franschoek, the rural and winelands character of Pniel will be destroyed within a few years, if allowed to continue unchecked.
